Overview

We are seeking a visionary Director of Electrical Engineering to lead the talented teams designing the electrical heart of QSC’s world-class products. In this role, you will shape the electrical architecture of our future platforms—power systems, digital & analog circuits, PCB design, and compliance—while empowering your teams to solve complex technical challenges and drive breakthrough innovation.

This is more than a leadership role. It’s a chance to leave your mark on products that are seen and heard by millions worldwide—across audio, and cutting-edge AV solutions.

Base Salary Range 190,000 – 250,000

The above reflects the pay range that QSC reasonably expects to pay for this role. This pay range also depends on various factors such as job duties and requirements, relevant experience and skills and geographic location. In addition to the base salary range, QSC offers a comprehensive package including but not limited to health benefits, 401K or Roth retirement plans and generous time off.

We will be accepting applications until a final candidate is identified.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and mentor a high-performance electrical engineering organization across multiple locations (Costa Mesa HQ, Boulder CO, Ft. Wayne IN).
  • Grow and inspire teams working in power electronics, digital/mixed-signal design, video, and PCB technologies.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive resource planning, hiring, and skill development across the electrical engineering function.

Technical Strategy & Innovation

  • Define and drive the electrical technology roadmap, ensuring QSC stays at the forefront of innovation.
  • Set engineering best practices, technical standards, and design excellence across all projects.
  • Champion advanced tools and methods such as Altium, HyperLynx, and SPICE, ensuring efficient, high-quality design and simulation processes.
  • Stay connected to the latest technologies to fuel smarter, faster development.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Software, Mechanical, and Acoustic Engineering leadership to create truly integrated products.
  • Balance technical innovation with market realities: feature sets, performance, cost, manufacturability, quality, and time to market.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Supply Chain, NPI, and Operations to bring products from concept to market—on time and on budget.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee hardware design toolchains (ECAD, simulation, test automation, qualification).
  • Manage hardware vendor and manufacturing partner relationships, including offshore ODM, JDM, and CM engagements.
  • Lead hardware engineering contributions during prototype and pilot builds in China and other manufacturing regions.
  • Drive execution discipline, effective resource allocation, and continuous process improvement.

Hands-on Contribution

  • Lead by example: serve as technical architect, design mentor, and key problem-solver on complex, high-impact projects.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in electrical hardware design and systems-level engineering, with expertise in complex board-level design, power systems, and high-speed interfaces.
  • Deep expertise in PCB design and layout (Altium preferred), and hands-on experience with leading electrical design and simulation tools (Altium, HyperLynx, SPICE).
  • Strong understanding of design principles, product lifecycle management, manufacturing processes, safety, and quality standards.
  • Proven hands-on leader who balances strategic vision with practical execution and technical depth.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with excellent technical communication and the ability to provide clear, actionable feedback.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaboration across distributed, multi-location teams and external partners.
  • Experience leading engineering organizations in fast-paced environments where priorities shift quickly and decisively.
  • A track record of driving practical, efficient solutions in high-pressure situations.
