Overview

The Service Technician plays a key role in supporting the Technical Services Group by performing hardware repairs on Q-SYS products. This includes troubleshooting, repairing, and testing Digital Signal Processors (DSPs), amplifiers, speakers, and other serviceable Q-SYS items. The position requires close collaboration with fellow service technicians, Logistics, Customer Care, and cross-functional teams across regions to ensure efficient coordination and timely completion of repair activities.

 

Base Pay Range: $59,000 -- $84,000

The above reflects the pay range that QSC reasonably expects to pay for this role. This pay range also depends on various factors such as job duties and requirements, relevant experience and skills and geographic location. Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair returned or malfunctioning equipment by applying electronic principles to identify root causes of failure. Repair or replace defective circuitry or components using appropriate tools, including hand tools, power tools, and soldering equipment.
  • Provide technical support to Q-SYS customers through phone, email, and other communication channels, offering effective troubleshooting and timely issue resolution.
  • Follow up with customers on pending repairs and approval requests to ensure timely completion and maintain transparent, consistent communication throughout the process.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all repairs, parts used, and serviced equipment to support traceability and future reference.
  • Monitor and manage parts inventory status, providing regular updates to the Service Center and Customer Care teams to reduce lead times and address any backlogs in spare parts.
  • Develop and document workflows and procedures for managing customer returns and restocking units, with the goal of streamlining repair processes and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Generate and validate software licenses for Q-SYS equipment as needed, ensuring compliance with licensing protocols and internal standards.
  • Stay current with industry developments by participating in both in-person and online training opportunities to continuously grow technical skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain equipment logs and manuals, including calibration schedules for preventive maintenance, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to team success and supporting broader organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree (AA or AS) in engineering or equivalent practical experience in a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the repair or manufacturing of digital and analog products.
  • Proven expertise in digital circuit board and component-level repair.
  • Strong understanding of electronic theory, including Ohm’s Law, AC/DC principles, digital logic design, DSP, and audio signal flow across various system sizes.
  • Proficient in networking concepts, computer technologies, and digital circuitry.
  • Skilled in using diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), audio precision systems, and soldering equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude for handling fine-pitch components with precision and care.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with enterprise platforms such as Oracle, Salesforce, or similar systems.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. and remain standing for extended periods.
