Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Design Quality Engineer with a strong background in both mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines to lead early-stage design risk management and reliability planning. You will be deeply involved in the Product Development Process (PDP), focusing on Design FMEA (DFMEA), lessons learned, technical documentation, and design validation for advanced electromechanical systems including PCBA-based products.

Base Salary Range 130,000 – 150,000

The above reflects the pay range that QSC reasonably expects to pay for this role. This pay range also depends on various factors such as job duties and requirements, relevant experience and skills and geographic location. In addition to the base salary range, QSC offers a comprehensive package including but not limited to health benefits, 401K or Roth retirement plans and generous time off.

We will be accepting applications until a final candidate is identified.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary owner of the Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) process—initiate, lead, and manage all DFMEA activities, including gathering inputs, identifying potential failure modes, driving cross-functional discussions, assigning severity/occurrence/detection rankings, and ensuring DFMEA outputs are fully integrated into the product design and qualification process.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams (Design, Quality, Mechanical, Process, and Systems Engineering) in early product planning and design review stages.
  • Lead efforts to gather and analyze lessons learned from similar products and processes, presenting them in design review and risk management meetings.
  • Review engineering drawings to ensure all critical design aspects are properly identified, tolerance-checked, and marked for downstream quality control.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering to ensure that key reliability risks are captured, and qualification tests are defined.
  • Compile and analyze product reliability data, including failure rate modeling, environmental testing feedback, and field return trends.
  • Work closely with the Technical Director to document all design decisions, risk mitigations, and qualification plans.
  • Ensure proper qualification and risk mitigation plans are in place for all new parts and processes.
  • Participate in PCBA design and assembly reviews; ensure manufacturing readiness, DFM/DFT practices, and material stack-ups are considered.
  • Validate that surface finish, coating, painting, and related specifications meet functional and aesthetic performance criteria.
  • Support ongoing compliance with applicable industry standards (e.g., IPC, JEDEC, ISO, IEC) and internal quality management systems.
  • Act as a technical leader for risk management, reliability engineering, and DFMEA discipline within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or related engineering fields.
  • 10+ years of industry experience in product design and development of mechanical or electromechanical systems.
  • Proven leadership in Design FMEA creation, facilitation, and ownership.
  • Strong expertise in PCBA design and assembly, DFM/DFT principles.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerancing, and qualification for new parts and assemblies.
  • Hands-on experience compiling detailed technical documentation, including qualification plans, test specifications, and engineering reports.
  • Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and risk management tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive and structured problem-solving approach.

Preferred Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or related engineering fields
  • Experience in audio/video system development, consumer electronics, or automotive electronics.
  • Certifications in Six Sigma, Reliability Engineering, or Quality Engineering (CRE, CQE, etc.) a plus.
  •

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a highly innovative team delivering world-class technology.
  • Drive impactful product quality improvements from the concept phase.
  • Collaborate across disciplines in a supportive and technically stimulating environment.

Apply today to join a team where your leadership in DFMEA and reliability will shape the next generation of high-performance electronics.
