Overview

The Reliability Engineer will gather lessons learned from multiple sources, including field/service issues, manufacturing issues, and design issues. They will facilitate Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA) with the technical team to mitigate risk in design, create reliability predictions from component BOM using reliability prediction software, and present findings to the technical team. Additionally, they will work cross-functionally with Test Engineering to create demonstrated life tests of new products. With extensive practical application experience in quality systems, design for reliability, product quality, problem-solving, product development processes, data analysis, and reporting, the Reliability Engineer will ensure high-quality products and customer satisfaction. They will also be responsible for tracking and measuring field product quality and reliability levels, identifying issues, and driving improvement by leading effective corrective actions. The Reliability Engineer will interface with our Technical Support Group, customers, engineering, manufacturing, and QA to collect information related to product failures and communicate the status of issue resolution to stakeholders within QSC. This position will focus on the Q-SYS cloud management audio, video, and network products.

 

Base Salary Range 123,000 – 140,000
 
The above reflects the pay range that QSC reasonably expects to pay for this role. This pay range also depends on various factors such as job duties and requirements, relevant experience and skills and geographic location. In addition to the base salary range, QSC offers a comprehensive package including but not limited to health benefits, 401K or Roth retirement plans, generous time off and profit sharing

Responsibilities

Analyze and report field failure rate and pareto data, define and characterize highest-impact failure modes, and action plan/resolution status regularly to internal stakeholders.
Assess risk based on failure information, and initiate containment and root cause corrective action through structured problem solving and improvement methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, risk mitigation, etc. enlisting support of field service, failure analysis sources, engineering, manufacturing and quality assurance.

Work with customer and customer facing teams to implement containment plans to mitigate risk to customers and production should failure reports indicate necessity.

Assure lessons-learned from performance of existing designs that impact quality and reliability are documented into risk registers, FMEA, etc to improve future designs.

Create reliability predictions from component BOM using Reliability Prediction software and present findings to technical team.

 

 

Qualifications

• BS degree in a technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Audio Engineering, Computer Engineering).
• Minimum 3+ years’ experience managing quality performance of electronic assemblies within Quality or Reliability Assurance, Engineering, or a Customer-facing function such as Customer Service or Applications Engineering.
• Experience in leading cross-functional efforts in data driven root cause corrective action.
• Experienced with various types of fabrication operations desired: PCBA assembly, plastic injection molding, die casting, sheet metal fabrication, wood cabinet fabrication and assembly, system assembly and test to help determine sources of failure.
• Previous experience in Audio/Video, Networked systems, and/or electronic/ electromechanical assembly experience is desirable.
• Previous experience with enterprise management software tools such as Oracle and PLM Agile and data analytics is desirable
• Perform tasks as assigned with minimum direction and oversight from the Quality Assurance leadership team. Should be a self-starter, independent worker, requiring the individual to routinely identify next steps in the process on their own based on problem investigation methodology.
• Experience leading Lessons learned and Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis
• Experience creating Reliability predictions using industry standard methods (Examples Telcordia, MIL-217).
• Expertise in industry standard data analysis such as: failure rate, prediction, pareto, ect.
• Experience with Problem identification and solving tools such as: 8D, DMAIC, etc.
• Understanding of failure analysis techniques relevant to digital and analog audio/video systems and components
• Understanding of Service Center / RMA Operations
• Experience with Reliability testing (HALT, Life testing, MTBF validation) desired.
• Experience with Audio, Networking, IT, and Electronic products is strongly desired.
• Familiar with Risk Assessment, Lessons Learned, design failure modes and effects analysis (DFMEA)
• Understanding and interpretation of Bills of Materials, drawings and specifications
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software for data collection, analysis, and reporting is required. Must have advanced excel or data analysis skills. Minitab and or Analytics (Power BI, Tableau, etc) knowledge a plus.
• Experience with Reliability Analysis software such as Reliasoft or Weibull++ a plus
